Private Airport Transfers in Sri Lanka
Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB), located near Katunayake, is the main international gateway for many visitors to Sri Lanka. From the airport, travellers can continue to Negombo, Colombo, the cultural triangle, the central highlands or the southern coast.
A private transfer may be a convenient choice for couples, families, business travellers and small groups who prefer to arrange transport for their own party.
Popular Airport Transfer Destinations
Airport to Colombo
Travel from the airport area to Colombo for hotels, business appointments, shopping and city sightseeing. Tell us your hotel or drop-off address when requesting a quote.
Airport to Negombo
Negombo is a convenient coastal destination for travellers who want to stay near the airport before starting a longer island tour or after arriving on a late flight.
Airport to Kandy
Kandy is known for its cultural heritage, scenic surroundings and the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Travellers continuing directly from the airport can request a transfer quotation based on their arrival time and accommodation address.
Airport to Sigiriya and Dambulla
Sigiriya and Dambulla are popular stops for visitors exploring Sri Lanka's ancient heritage. If you plan to travel directly from the airport, share your itinerary so the journey can be assessed and quoted appropriately.
Airport to Galle and the Southern Coast
Travellers heading to Galle, Unawatuna, Mirissa, Weligama or other southern coastal destinations can enquire about private transfers from the airport.
Airport to Ella and Nuwara Eliya
The central highlands attract visitors with tea plantations, mountain scenery and cooler weather. Since these journeys can take several hours, plan your arrival time and onward travel carefully.
Which Vehicle Should You Choose?
The most suitable vehicle depends on the number of passengers, luggage, comfort preferences and journey requirements. When requesting a quotation, ask which options are available for your dates.
- Private car: May suit couples or small parties travelling with limited luggage.
- Air-conditioned van: May suit families and small groups needing additional space.
- Larger group transport: Larger parties should provide their passenger count and luggage details to identify a suitable arrangement.
Vehicle availability, capacity and final rates must be confirmed before booking.
How Much Does an Airport Transfer Cost in Sri Lanka?
Airport transfer prices depend on the destination, distance, vehicle type, passenger count, travel date and any additional stops. A short transfer to a nearby hotel will generally involve different costs from a long-distance journey to the hill country or southern coast.
For an accurate quotation, provide your airport pickup point, drop-off address, date, time, passenger count and luggage requirements. Confirm whether fuel, parking, expressway tolls, waiting time and additional stops are included in the quoted price.
Do not assume that all extra charges are included unless they are clearly stated in your written quotation.
What Information Is Needed to Arrange Your Pickup?
Prepare the following details before contacting your transport provider:
- Arrival date and approximate landing time
- Flight number and arrival airport
- Hotel name or exact drop-off destination
- Number of adults and children
- Number and size of suitcases
- Any child-seat or accessibility requirements
- Whether you need a one-way transfer, return transfer or several days of transport
Providing accurate information helps the provider assess the journey and confirm an appropriate vehicle and quotation.
